Johannes Wiegand is a seasoned economist with extensive experience at the International Monetary Fund since 2000, currently serving as Director and head of the IMF Shanghai Regional Research Center. Wiegand held prominent roles including Head of Regional Surveillance for the Asia and Pacific Department and Head of Climate and Development Policy. Prior to joining the IMF, Wiegand was a leader writer for Financial Times Deutschland and contributed as a researcher and teaching assistant at the London School of Economics. Wiegand's academic credentials include a PhD and MSc in Economics from UCL and a Diplom in Volkswirtschaftslehre from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München.
