John Steytler

Vice President Pharmacovigilance And Clinical Development at International Partnership for Microbicides

John Steytler has extensive work experience in the pharmaceutical and research industry. John is currently the Vice President of Pharmacovigilance and Clinical Development at the International Partnership for Microbicides. Prior to this role, they served as the Director of Medical Safety, where they were responsible for the safety assessment of compounds in clinical development. John also served as a Medical Safety Physician and was the chairperson of the Safety Management Teams for assigned compounds.

Before joining the International Partnership for Microbicides, John worked as a Principal Investigator and site Clinical Officer at the PHIDISA Research Clinic, where they managed a research collaboration project on HIV in partnership with the US National Institutes of Health and the South African Department of Defence.

Earlier in their career, John worked at Hoffmann-La Roche as a Consultant Medical Manager and later as a Medical Manager for the Middle East Management Centre. John supported and mentored drug safety and clinical research staff in the region and implemented quality risk management initiatives.

John also worked at Boehringer Ingelheim as a Clinical Trial Monitor, where they were responsible for HIV trials conducted in South Africa, including protocol authoring and data quality review activities.

John Steytler attended the University of Cape Town from 1982 to 1987, where they pursued a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree in the field of Medicine.
