Karen Hein currently serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Community and Family Medicine at Dartmouth Medical School since September 2010. With a commitment to humanitarian efforts, Karen has been a member of the Board of Advisors for the IRC and the International Rescue Committee since November 2005, contributing to support for refugees and displaced individuals globally and domestically. As a board member of various international NGOs since 2003, Karen has focused on promoting peace and assisting vulnerable communities. Previous roles include board membership with People in Aid, the Green Mountain Care Board, CCF and ChildFund Alliance, and the National Board of Medical Examiners. Karen's educational background includes an MD from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, as well as a BMS and BA in medicine and biology from Dartmouth College and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Additionally, a publication titled "Outside Looking In, Inside Looking Out: Expanding the concept of Health" appeared in Academic Pediatrics in 2015.
