Britt Dougherty

Head of Primary, Bellevue Children’s Academy at International Schools Partnership

Britt Dougherty has a passion for education. Growing up in a family of educators, Britt was drawn to the world of working with children from early on. Beginning with babysitting at the age of eleven, Britt has continued to work with children throughout her life. During the summers while she earned her undergraduate degree, she worked as an assistant teacher at a preschool and as a lead teacher in a school aged summer program.

In 2004 she received her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Pacific Lutheran University and became a certified teacher in Washington State. Post-graduation, Britt spent a year as a substitute teacher in the local public schools before joining Bellevue Children’s Academy in 2005. After two years of teaching Pre-K, Britt pursued her professional teaching certification which she achieved in 2009. In 2013 Britt received a Master of Education from the University of Washington and added a reading endorsement to her professional teaching certification.

Britt transitioned out of the classroom for one year during the 2014-2015 school year to assume the role of Assistant Director of the kindergarten and first grade programs at BCA. She then returned to the classroom for two years before becoming the Head of Satellite and Center Director for the early learning program at BCA. Britt fulfilled this role for four years. Currently, Britt serves as the Head of BCA Primary overseeing the kindergarten through fourth grade programs at Bellevue Children’s Academy.

Outside of school, Britt enjoys travelling with her husband, spending time with her family and two dogs, as well as cooking, baking, music, arts, and crafts.
