Darryl Busse has extensive work experience in various roles related to operations, management, and security. Darryl started their career as a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer in the South African National Defence Force, where they served for almost ten years. Following this, they worked as a U.S. Army Contractor for the United States Department of Defense, specializing in Diplomatic Protective Services. Darryl then joined Statoil as a Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) Advisor in Libya. After that, Darryl joined International SOS, where they held several positions, including Operations & Security Lead in Afghanistan, Project Manager & EMS Chief in Iraq, and Regional Operations Manager in Iraq. Darryl also worked as a Project Manager & Medical Lead in Kandahar, Afghanistan. Currently, Darryl is serving as the Global Operations Director for Medical Services at International SOS.
Darryl Busse has a diverse education history. Darryl obtained a Certificate in Major Incident Medical Management Support (MIMMS) from the University of Cape Town in 2008. Prior to that, they completed a Diploma in Leadership Course in Regional Disaster Response & Trauma System Management from the U.S. Defense Institute for Medical Operations in 2003. In 1999, Darryl earned a Certificate in Training the Trainer from Port Elizabeth Technikon. In terms of secondary education, they attended Baysville Secondary School from 1992 to 1994, earning High School/Secondary Diplomas & Certificates. Additionally, Darryl has obtained various certifications, including Operational Emergency Care Practitioner (OECP), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), International Trauma Life Support (ITLS), Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC), General Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health Professional, and Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC).
