Gabrielle O'Malley

Director Of Implementation Science, Department Of Global Health at International Training and Education Center for Health (I-TECH)

Gabrielle O'Malley has a diverse work experience that spans several roles and organizations. Their most recent position is as the Vice Chair of the Department of Global Health at the University of Washington since 2022. Prior to that, they worked at I-TECH, also affiliated with the University of Washington, as the Program Director/Principal Investigator since 2015. In this role, Gabrielle effectively aligned technical and operational teams, collaborated with global partners, and conducted situational analyses. Gabrielle also held the position of Scientific Collaborator at the Department of Global Health at the University of Washington from 2009 to the present, where they collaborated across different teams, developed health service delivery tools, and provided thought leadership and analytic support for manuscripts.

Before their time at the University of Washington, Gabrielle served as the Director of Implementation Science at the International Training and Education Center for Health from 2002. In this role, they advised on methodologies and resources for evaluation, connected project teams with relevant scientific expertise across the Department of Global Health, and managed a team of over 40 staff.

Prior to their positions at the University of Washington and International Training and Education Center for Health, Gabrielle worked as an Independent Consultant. In this role, they provided strategy development, evaluation, and management consulting services for various clients, including foundations and private sector organizations. Their work included evaluating family planning strategies, an international HIV training program, and providing management consulting services for environmental health compliance.

Gabrielle O'Malley has a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Political Science and Government, with a focus on Modern European History, from Smith College. Gabrielle also holds a Master of Arts (MA) degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), where they studied Social Change and Development, International Economics, and Public Health and Nutrition. Additionally, Gabrielle has pursued a PhD in Anthropology at the University of Washington.
