James Fahn

Executive Director, Earth Journalism Network at Internews

James Fahn is an accomplished leader in environmental journalism, currently serving as the Executive Director of the Earth Journalism Network at Internews since September 2004, where over 4,500 journalists are supported in their coverage of environmental issues through training programs, network support, and grant opportunities. Fahn has also contributed to academia as a Journalism Lecturer at UC Berkeley from January 2013 to December 2023, teaching international environmental reporting and overseeing the Earth Journalism Scholars program. Prior experience includes serving as a Program Associate at the Ford Foundation, supporting grant-making in environment and development, and a Research Intern at NOAA, contributing to the US government review of the 3rd IPCC assessment report. Fahn's journalism career began as the Environment Editor for Nation Multimedia Group in Thailand, and academic qualifications include a Master of International Affairs focused on Media and Environment from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in Astronomy, Physics, and History from Amherst College.
