Maia Mikashavidze

Maia Mikashavidze, Ph.D., serves as the Director of the Branch Office in Georgia for Internews, where responsibilities include overseeing projects that support independent media across twelve countries in Eastern Europe and the Caucasus. Additionally, Maia holds a professorship at the GIPA Caucasus School of Journalism and Media Management, contributing to the academic council and developing outreach projects. As a media development consultant, Maia collaborates with various organizations, including the US Government and European institutions, on media-related initiatives. Previous roles include Country Director for the Multimedia Journalism Project at Internews Georgia and Dean of the Caucasus School of Journalism and Media Management, which was established under a USG grant. Maia's education includes a Ph.D. in Mass Communication from the University of South Carolina and a Master's in Public Administration from the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs.
