Robert E. Tarjan

Chief Scientist at Intertrust

Bob Tarjan is Intertrust’s Senior Fellow and is responsible for leading basic research at the Company. Tarjan is also the James S. McDonnell Distinguished University Professor of Computer Science at Princeton University. He is one of the world’s most prominent computer scientists and has made fundamental contributions in the fields of algorithms and data structures. He is the recipient of numerous academic distinctions and awards including the Association for Computing Machinery A. M. Turing Award, and the Nevanlinna Prize in mathematical aspects of computer science.

Tarjan has held a series of industrial research and academic positions over the years, including Senior Fellow at Hewlett-Packard and Visiting Researcher at Microsoft Research. Earlier in his career, he was with AT&T Bell Labs and the NEC Research Institute. He has held academic positions at Cornell University, University of California Berkeley, Stanford University, and N.Y.U. Tarjan holds a BS in Mathematics from the California Institute of Technology and MS and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from Stanford University.
