James Zou

James Zou serves as the Faculty Director of AI for Health at Stanford University, where a cross-department program fosters collaboration between industry and researchers in biotech, pharma, insurance, and wellness sectors. As an Associate Professor, James leads a team of 15 PhD students and postdoctoral researchers focused on developing innovative machine learning algorithms for healthcare applications. Additionally, James is a Scientific Advisor at InterVenn Biosciences and an Investigator at the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub. Previous experience includes a role as a machine learning researcher at Microsoft Research New England, specializing in statistical machine learning and computational genomics. James holds a PhD from Harvard University, served as a Simons Research Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley, and completed Part III in Mathematics at the University of Cambridge.
