Dr Tomas Gerlich

Dr. Tomas Gerlich has extensive work experience in the field of computer vision and research. Dr. Tomas currently holds the position of Senior Computer Vision Engineer at Intrinsic, a role they have held since May 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Akasha Imaging, where they served as Senior Computer Vision Engineer from August 2020 to May 2022. In this role, they were responsible for camera calibration and 3D object pose estimation. Additionally, Akasha Imaging was an independent subsidiary of Vicarious, which was acquired by Intrinsic in May 2022.

Before joining Akasha Imaging, Dr. Gerlich worked at HERE Technologies as a Senior Research Engineer from October 2017 to August 2020.

Dr. Tomas began their career at the University of Illinois Chicago, where they held multiple roles. From August 2012 to August 2017, they served as a Research Assistant, focusing on research in GPS trace map-matching, automatic bus stop location discovery, and arrival time prediction algorithms. Prior to that, from August 2010 to August 2012, they were a Pre Doctoral Fellow, working on research projects related to transportation mode detection from accelerometer data.

In 2015, Dr. Gerlich spent a brief time as a Visiting Student at the MIT Media Lab. Before that, they worked as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Illinois Chicago from August 2009 to May 2010.
