Ben McDade has a diverse work experience, primarily in the investment sector. Ben started their career as a Marketing Manager and later became a Business Development Manager at Dalhousie University Gazette Newspaper from April 2010 to April 2012. From September 2013 to March 2014, they worked as an Opportunity Analyst at First Angel Network, where they led due diligence and managed investment reporting. Ben then joined Innovacorp in March 2014 as an Investment Analyst, identifying and developing early-stage investment opportunities in various sectors. In June 2017, they were promoted to Investment Associate, specializing in the Information Technology sector. Currently, they are working at Invest Nova Scotia as an Investment Principal starting in January 2023.

Ben McDade earned a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Comm.) degree in General Business Studies from Saint Mary's University between 2011 and 2013. In 2015, they attended the Venture Capital Institute to study Venture Capital and Private Equity. In 2017, they completed a Certificate in Entrepreneurship Essentials from Harvard Business School Online. Additionally, in 2009, Ben participated in an Exchange Program at QUT (Queensland University of Technology), where they focused on Entrepreneurship and Management. Ben also holds additional certifications, including being a Section4 Certified Product Strategist as of 2022 and completing the Mastering Sales: A Toolkit for Success program from Kellogg Executive Education in 2021.
