Richard Smith

Richard Smith is an accomplished Operations Director at The Invictus Games Foundation since January 2019, responsible for managing event contracts, operational support, and relationships with 20 Participating Nations. Previously, Richard served as Bursar and Director of Operations at Stamford Endowed Schools, overseeing a £22 million budget and various key functions. In the British Army, Richard held roles including Deputy Commander, where strategic planning for Army Reserves was key, and Military Director for the London 2012 Olympics, leading military contributions to the Games. Richard's early career included commanding the Initial Training Group, enhancing recruit retention and training standards. Richard holds a BA in Modern History and Politics from Durham University, a Master’s in International Relations from King's College London, and a PGCE from the University of Southampton.
