Mark Chamness

Mark Chamness currently serves as Partner and Head of Data Science at Invictus Growth Partners, a private equity firm focused on scaling cloud software businesses. Previous experience includes roles as Director of Data Science & Machine Learning at Coursera, where management of recommendation systems and personalized learning projects took place, and Director of Data Science at Nutanix, overseeing multiple cross-functional teams. Mark also held the position of Principal Research Scientist at EMC Corporation following the acquisition of Data Domain, and has a history of software engineering and data consulting roles at various companies, including Visa, where the first intrusion detection system using deep neural networks was implemented. Mark's educational background includes a B.S. in Physics from Caltech, a Master of Science in Statistics from San Jose State University, and doctoral studies in Physics at Brown University. Additionally, Mark has a rich experience in karate as a dojo leader and head instructor.
