Matthias Schmidt

Matthias Schmidt has extensive experience in technical security and IT engineering. Matthias currently holds the position of Head of Technical Security at STRATO AG since August 2023. Prior to that, they worked at IONOS for several roles, including Head of Technical Security & Abuse Management, Head of Technical Security, Information Security Architect, Senior IT Security Engineer, and IT Security Engineer. Matthias also has experience as a Committer for the DragonFly BSD Project. Matthias also worked as a Research and Teaching Assistant at Phillips-University of Marburg, where they focused on computer security, computer networks, cloud and grid computing, and HPC. Matthias has additional experience as a Developer for Transfacto GmbH and DEV Systemtechnik GmbH, as well as a Package and Documentation Maintainer for the Openwall Project.

Matthias Schmidt earned a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Computer Science from The Philipp University of Marburg, which they attended from 2001 to 2007. Later, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science at the same institution, which they completed between 2007 and 2011.
