Staff Scientist at IonQ

Amrit Poudel has a diverse work experience in the field of quantum computing and solid-state physics. Amrit is currently working as a Staff Scientist at IonQ since May 2022. Prior to that, Amrit worked at Rigetti Computing as a Manager of Quantum Design from October 2020 to May 2022.

Before their role at Rigetti Computing, Amrit worked at Synopsys Inc as a Senior R&D Engineer from July 2018 to October 2020. In this role, they led a team in developing physics-based simulation tools for superconducting technologies and published key findings in a peer-reviewed journal.

Amrit also has experience working as a Product Development Engineer at KLA from March 2017 to July 2018, where they developed a Python software prototype utilizing TensorFlow for defect classification and performed statistical analysis of large multi-modal images for defect detection.

In addition, Amrit has held research positions at Northwestern University as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow from April 2015 to February 2017, where they focused on quantum transport in molecular systems, and at Dartmouth College as a Postdoctoral Research Associate from September 2013 to March 2015.

Amrit's early career included working as a Research Assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from August 2008 to August 2013, where they conducted research in areas such as quantum electronics, quantum information processing, and numerical methods. Amrit also served as a Teaching Assistant during their time at the university.
