Shad Reed

Shad Reed currently serves as the Vice President of Engineering for the Public Sector at IonQ since August 2025. Prior to this role, Shad held the position of Vice President of Engineering for ALTIUS at Anduril Industries from June 2022 to August 2025, focusing on market analysis and bid processes. Shad's earlier experience includes serving as Program Director and Program Manager at Area-I, where responsibilities also involved bid processes. From June 2016 to April 2021, Shad was the Deputy Commander/International Program Officer in the United States Air Force, leading a team of 51 personnel and developing a $5 million research portfolio for next-generation autonomous vehicles. Shad's academic background includes a PhD in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology and completion of Senior Developmental Education at the USAF Air War College. Additionally, Shad has served as Assistant Professor, Deputy Head of Department, and Director of the Aeronautics Laboratory at the U.S. Air Force Academy from June 2011 to June 2016.
