Manuelle Hurwitz is the Director, Programmes Division at the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). She has the responsibility of overseeing the global technical, humanitarian and restricted project delivery work of the Federation.
Prior to this post, Manuelle was the Director, Institutional Delivery. She led on the delivery of restricted funded projects as well as health information systems and supply chain management.
In previous roles, Manuelle led IPPF’s abortion strategy and programmes. She established IPPF’s Global Comprehensive Abortion Care Initiative in 2007 which is currently entering its fifth phase of implementation. From 2001 to 2007, Manuelle was Senior Programme Officer in IPPF’s Innovation Fund where she managed a programme funded by the European Commission on youth and sexual and reproductive health, mainly in Francophone Africa. Before joining the Central Office, Manuelle worked for nine years in IPPF’s South Asia Regional Office as Programme Advisor and was the Desk Officer for Nepal, Iran and India successively.
Manuelle has been chairing the Safe Abortion Action Fund since 2012 and is currently a member of the Reproductive Health Supplies Coalition and UNFPA RH Supplies Programme steering committees.
Prior to joining IPPF, Manuelle worked as Research Officer for the Department of Applied Social Studies and Social Research at the University of Oxford
