Tuyen Nguyen

Tuyen Nguyen has worked in the software industry since 2008. In 2016, they were appointed VP of Software Development at Iritech, Inc. In this role, they spearheaded the establishment of a partnership with MOSIP, a modular open-source digital identity platform, to provide secure and reliable identity solutions. Tuyen also developed and coordinated cross-functional teams to ensure successful integration of software and hardware systems, resulting in seamless performance and user experience. Additionally, they innovated and secured patents for iris liveness detection and biometric one-time passwords, contributing to advancements in biometric authentication and recognition technology.

Prior to their VP role, they were a Senior Software Engineer Team Lead at Iritech, Inc., where they developed 3 series of the world's first embedded systems for iris recognition with more than half million devices deployed in national ID projects, UNHCR, US agencies and contractors. Tuyen also coordinated partnerships with Texas Instrument and NXP to implement complete system security, resulting in a 50% reduction in development time and 15% reduction in manufacturing costs. As a mentor and leader, they trained and led a team of over 10 software engineers, resulting in a cohesive and high-performing team.

As a Software Engineer, they developed an algorithm that acquires intricate details of an iris from a live image stream within 1-3 seconds. Tuyen also optimized quality assessment algorithms to reduce evaluation time from 200ms to 50ms per image by introducing quality filters and sorters to quickly eliminate low-quality irises and reduce the number of costly assessments. In addition, they led the development of the company's hardware business from the ground up by designing an SDK that could be easily integrated into low-computing chipsets while achieving a minimum of 19-20 frames per second.

Tuyen Nguyen has obtained a Master of Computer Engineering from Kyung Hee University, specializing in Database. Prior to that, Tuyen obtained a Bachelor of Information Technology from Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology, specializing in Webservices. Tuyen also holds a High School Honours Diploma from Tien Giang High School for the Gifted, with a focus on Math.
