Alan Septoff has extensive work experience in various roles related to communications, information systems, and environmental advocacy.
Their most recent position is as the Director of Communications and Information Systems at the IRMA Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance since 2022.
Prior to that, they worked at EARTHWORKS for more than two decades, holding multiple positions. These include roles such as Information Systems Director (2021-2022), Strategic Communications Director (2012-2021), Research/IT Director (2001-2012), Policy Director (1999-2001), and Program Coordinator (1997-1998).
Earlier in their career, Alan worked as a Data Analyst at the National Academy of Sciences (1996-1997) and as a Research Assistant at the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University (1994-1996).
Alan Septoff earned their Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Government from the University of Maryland in 1991. Alan then went on to pursue a Master's degree in Environmental Policy, obtaining a dual MPA/MSES degree from Indiana University Bloomington in 1996.
