Isala (ziekenhuis)
Mark Broekman is currently an MD/PhD candidate in the Department of Surgery at UMCG, specializing in abdominal surgery, and has been involved in various roles since May 2019, including junior co-assistant across multiple medical departments. Broekman has also held research positions in abdominal surgery and pediatric cardiology, and worked as a transplant technician in cardiothoracic surgery. In addition to clinical responsibilities, Broekman serves as the chair of the Foundation Benefietdiner and is a general board member of Stichting Arts en Organisatie. In the academic sphere, Broekman has contributed to the International Student Congress of (bio)Medical Sciences in various capacities, including as a junior advisory board member and former treasurer. Education includes a Master's degree in Medicine anticipated in December 2027, along with a Bachelor's degree and participation in the Junior Scientific Masterclass at the University of Groningen. Broekman's academic journey started with preparatory education at Het Stedelijk, focusing on science and health.

Isala biedt meer dan basiszorg. In de loop der jaren hebben we steeds meer bijzondere, topklinische functies toegewezen gekregen. Vaak als erkenning van de kennis en vaardigheden die specialisten op eigen initiatief hadden opgebouwd. In de topklinische functies, zoals hart- en neurochirurgie en dialyse, kunnen we ons meten met academische ziekenhuizen. Om het niveau van deze zorg zo hoog mogelijk te houden, wordt voortdurend toegepast wetenschappelijk onderzoek gedaan. De specialistische kennis die we in huis hebben, geven we door aan artsen en verpleegkundigen in opleiding. Vanzelfsprekend geven we professionele medische zorg, maar we willen er ook voor mensen zijn. Met aandacht en medeleven.
