Job Summary

As a Senior Underwriter at ISC, Integrated Specialty Services, your primary responsibility will involve reviewing applications for insurance and evaluating the degree of risk against a set of guidelines to determine eligibility for coverage in our programs.  In addition, you will be responsible for determining the level of coverage offered and appropriate pricing based on the exposures presented, while managing communication with appointed brokers. 

Position Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyze, and compare information on new and renewal submissions against a set of rules and guidelines for acceptability.
  • Assess the degree of hazard of the individual risk to determine the level of coverage that will be offered and appropriate pricing relative to the risk.
  • Prepare referral submission for risks exceeding individual authority.
  • Documentation of Underwriting files including risk analysis and pricing justification in accordance with established underwriting standards.
  • Communicates with producers regarding all aspects of the underwriting process by phone, chat and email.
  • Collaborate with other team members as needed in underwriting, claims, or marketing to resolve issues.
  • Assist in the development of the Underwriting team through sharing knowledge and market intelligence, collaboration, and mentoring relationships.
  • Cultivate relationships with assigned producers to achieve production goals.
  • Adhere to underwriting guidelines and execute underwriting and pricing strategies to maintain profitability goals.
  • Recommend ideas for program development and process improvement

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two-year College degree or Industry Education equivalent (CPCU, CIC, etc.)
  • 7+ years of experience with Property and Casualty underwriting.
  • 5+ years of underwriting experience with non-admitted E&S business. 
  • 7+ years with habitational exposures and dwellings (wiring, Roofing, plumbing, etc)
  • Knowledge of IMS (Insurance Management System) a plus
  • Comfortable with a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word & PDF editor,
  • Property & Casualty Broker’s License

The starting annual pay scale for this position is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on factors such as skills, qualifications, training, and experience. In addition, the company offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k) plan with match, paid time off, and other benefits.

ISC's salary ranges are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and could be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

National Pay Range
$90,000$110,000 USD
