Moustafa Ayad

Moustafa Ayad has diverse work experience in various organizations. Moustafa is currently serving as the Executive Director for Africa, Middle East, and Asia at the Institute for Strategic Dialogue since October 2017. Prior to this, they worked as a Program Director at Lapis Communications from July 2014 to October 2017. In this role, they managed a diverse network of creative talent and implemented strategic communication initiatives across the Levant region.

Before joining Lapis Communications, Moustafa worked as a Communications Specialist for Support to the National Dialogue Program and Elections at the UNDP from August 2012 to August 2014. Here, they played a key role in media planning, media research, and media production for the launch of the Comprehensive National Dialogue Conference. Moustafa also worked on the voter education and outreach strategy for the Biometric Voter Registry project.

In addition to their roles at UNDP, Moustafa worked as an Independent Consultant from December 2009 to December 2012. Moustafa served as a Journalist and Social Media Trainer, conducting training sessions on social media applications for Iraqi news organizations. Moustafa also worked as a Media Specialist at UNDP, designing outreach and media products for the early presidential elections in Sanaa, Yemen.

Furthermore, Moustafa has experience as a Social Media and Networking Trainer and Specialist at IREX from October 2010 to December 2011. Moustafa has also worked as a Programme Coordinator at UNDP from December 2009 to February 2011, and as a Social Media Development Consultant at Overseas Strategic Consulting, Ltd from August 2010 to December 2010.

Earlier in their career, Moustafa held the position of Research Assistant at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from August 2008 to December 2009. Moustafa also worked as a Research Associate/Consultant for Center for Global Communication Studies at Global Communication Studies from May 2009 to November 2009.
