Michael DeLucia

Michael DeLucia has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Michael currently serves as the Chief of Staff at Islands since November 2021. Prior to that, from 2020 to 2021, they provided startup consulting services to pre-seed and seed stage companies, assisting them with growth, operations, scaling, and finance/pricing strategies.

Before their consulting role, Michael worked at Flexport from 2016 to 2020. Michael held various positions including Global Operations and Account Manager, Senior Operations Associate, and Global Operations Associate. During their time at Flexport, they successfully coordinated global trade shipments for clients across multiple industries and played a key role in identifying supply chain efficiency gains and resolving issues.

In 2013, Michael worked as a Financial Services Consultant at Deloitte & Touche LLP, where they specialized in financial statement analysis and audit work for financial services companies. Michael also gained experience in financial modeling, stakeholder management, process gap analysis, and internal controls assessment. Prior to this role, in 2012, they interned at the same company as a Financial Services Intern.

Michael DeLucia attended the University of Maryland from 2009 to 2013, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Accounting and Finance. Michael also completed additional certifications, including becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) through the Virginia Board of Accountancy in January 2015. Furthermore, they obtained certifications in SQL Essential Training and Web Analytics Fundamentals from Lynda.com in July 2016.
