Richard Lieb

Richard Lieb has been a Director at iStar since August 2020. Prior to that, they were the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis at Citi from April 2006 to August 2020. In that role, they were the Global Finance Lead supporting Risk Management, Compliance and Internal Audit Global Functions with an annual expense of $1.5B and 6,000 staff. Richard collaborated with business to meet regulatory commitments by reengineering processes and completed organizational transformation initiatives that reduced costs by 5% while self-funding technology investments improving the safety & soundness of the bank.

Richard has a long history of executing detailed expense review and transformation initiatives, generating savings vs. planned expenses. In 2019, they generated $30M in savings and $200M in cumulative savings since 2016. Richard's transformation work has included resource and location strategy. Richard has also completed several organizational transformations, remediating Risk and Control processes and reducing costs. In one instance, they were able to reduce costs by $15M, or 15%. Richard has also realigned businesses, optimizing global end-to-end Risk Governance processes.

In addition to their work on cost reduction, Richard has also implemented on-line financial / KPI Dashboards for Business Leaders, improving financial transparency, monthly forecasting accuracy and providing business with data & analysis to manage their businesses more effectively.
