Senior Transportation Engineer at Iteris

Ted Huynh, PE, TE has a diverse range of experience in the transportation engineering field. Ted has worked as a Senior Transportation Engineer at Iteris, Inc. since 2017, where they serve as the project manager and primary simulation expert for various traffic engineering, traffic operations, and transportation planning projects. Ted specializes in using microsimulation software packages such as PTV VISSIM, Synchro, SimTraffic, and HCS.

Before joining Iteris, Ted worked at CDM Smith from 2010 to 2017. During their time there, they held the role of Transportation Engineer and conducted technical analysis for traffic impact and operations analyses, transit and multimodal studies, rail and parking studies, and traffic accident safety and cost estimation analysis. Ted was also responsible for overseeing large traffic and parking data collection efforts and public outreach meetings, surveys, and events.

Prior to CDM Smith, Ted gained experience as a Transportation Planning Intern at the San Francisco County Transportation Authority in 2009. In this role, they supervised field staff for large origin-destination surveys, ensured quality control and survey material review, and conducted research on collision data for safety analysis reports.

Ted's early experience includes working as a Graduate Student Researcher at UC Berkeley from 2008 to 2009, where they conducted literature and model reviews of biofuel refinery and production models for the Energy Biosciences Institute. Ted also contributed to the integration of lifecycle model flow inputs for future model development.

Before their graduate studies, Ted served as a Roadway/Transportation Engineering Intern at Garver Engineers in 2007, where they designed preliminary drainage patterns, developed roadway alignments using AutoCAD and HEC-HMS, and contributed to the preparation of engineering reports and design drawings for road projects.

Throughout their career, Ted has honed their skills in traffic engineering, transportation planning, simulation software, technical analysis, data collection, and report writing.

Ted Huynh, PE, TE completed their education in a sequential manner. Ted first pursued their Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Oklahoma, beginning in 2004 and graduating in 2008. Following this, they joined the University of California, Berkeley to pursue a Master of Science degree in Transportation Engineering, which they completed in 2009.

In addition to their educational background, Ted Huynh has also obtained certifications in their field. Ted became a Professional Civil Engineer in June 2012, certified by the California Board of Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists. Furthermore, they obtained certification as a Traffic Engineer in October 2015 from the same institution.
