Kimberley Sevcik

Director, International Engagement and Impact at ITVS

Kimberley Sevcik has a diverse range of work experience spanning from 1999 to present. Kimberley started their career as a Contributing Writer at Rolling Stone in 2004 and later became a News Director at Marie Claire from 1999 to 2001. Kimberley then transitioned to becoming a Contributing Editor at Marie Claire, focusing on international women's issues, from 2001 to 2007.

In 2006, they wrote a book titled "Angels in Africa," which profiles African women leaders tackling significant issues in their countries. The book received recognition as a Best Book of 2006 by The Guardian and was praised in Bill Clinton's book, "Giving," in 2007.

Kimberley Sevcik also served as a Communications Officer at International Medical Corps in 2007, where they developed communications materials and managed media collection across 25 countries of operation. Kimberley then moved to Campaign for Female Education, acting as the Information & Media Relations Manager from 2007 to 2010 and later as the Head of Special Projects from 2010 to 2012. In this role, they created and led advocacy campaigns on child marriage, domestic violence, and women's leadership.

Currently, Kimberley Sevcik holds the position of Director of International Engagement and Impact at ITVS since 2012. In this role, they direct the Women and Girls Lead Global project, which uses documentary film to catalyze grassroots movements and initiate conversations around key issues facing women and girls. The project operates in Bangladesh, India, Jordan, Kenya, and Peru, and involves strategic campaign design, community engagement, and collaboration with NGOs, among other responsibilities.

Kimberley Sevcik obtained a Certificate in Multimedia Storytelling Institute from the University of California, Berkeley in 2012. In the same year, they also received a Certificate in Project Management from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey. Prior to that, they pursued their Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in American Studies/Women's Studies from The University of Texas at Austin, completing it between the years 2000 and 2003.
