Glover Barker

Software Architect at ivWatch

Glover Barker has had a long and varied career in software engineering. Glover began in 1989 as a Member of Technical Staff at R. R. Donnelley and Sons, where they created a version control function from scratch and served as an alternate chair for the Change Control Board. In 1994, they moved to Logica Inc. as a Product Support Development Manager. Glover then joined Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) at the NASA Langley Research Center as a Computer Scientist in 1995, where they were the team leader for a wind tunnel controls automation project, and developed internet tools to support education. In 1996, they became an Adjunct Faculty Member at Thomas Nelson Community College, and in 1995 they began teaching at ECPI Computer Institute. From 1999 to 2007, they worked for Symantec Corporation as a Senior Principal Software Engineer, where they were the technical lead for various internet content filtering and antivirus products, and a test tool automation lead for CSAPI. In 2007, they moved to Lockheed Martin at the NASA Langley Research Center as a Scientific Systems Analyst Staff, where they developed and analyzed cockpit-based software to detect aircraft conflicts in the terminal area, and supported data collection and data analysis for piloted research studies and fast time simulation studies. In 2011, they became the Organizer for the Williamsburg Software Developers Group. Finally, in 2018, they began working as a Software Architect for ivWatch, LLC.

Glover Barker attended Northwest Missouri State University from 1978 to 1982, where they earned a B.S. in Computer Science with a Mathematics minor. Glover then attended The University of Kansas from 1982 to 1984, where they earned an M.S. in Computer Science.
