Octavia Thorns-Jackson

Octavia Thorns-Jackson, EdD, currently serves as the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at Ivy Tech Community College, a position held since August 2020. Thorns-Jackson has a robust academic background, including prior roles as Department Chair of English, Communications, and Languages, and Associate Professor of English at Ivy Tech Community College Muncie-Henry Co. Focusing on English education, Thorns-Jackson also served as an Assistant Professor of English and Teaching Fellow at the institution, along with experience as Adjunct Faculty. Academic qualifications include a Doctor of Education in Higher Education and Adult Learning from Walden University, a Master of Arts in English, Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University, and a Master of Science in Adult Learning from Walden University, along with a Bachelor of Arts in African-American and African Diaspora Studies from Indiana University Bloomington.
