Samantha Aamot has a diverse work experience in various roles and organizations. Samantha is currently working as a Content Production Specialist at IXL Learning since 2022. Prior to that, they served as a Metadata Graduate Assistant at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2021 to 2022. From 2021 to 2021, they worked as a Digital Archives Intern at the National Native American Boarding School Healing Coalition.
Before their recent roles, Samantha worked as a Graduate Assistant at the Moise A. Khayrallah Center for Lebanese Diaspora Studies from 2019 to 2021. In this position, they organized and implemented digital humanities and public history projects, maintained archival collections, and coordinated with project collaborators.
From 2019 to 2021, they were a Graduate Student at North Carolina State University, where they specialized in Indigenous studies, digital humanities, and history. Samantha also actively participated in on-campus public history advocacy groups and served as a co-editor for the university's History Department blog.
Samantha's work experience also includes a role as a Business Services Coordinator at the Anchorage Public Library from 2018 to 2019. Their responsibilities in this position included building and marketing programs to support small businesses and managing multiple projects and partnerships.
Samantha gained valuable transcription and research experience as a Transcriptionist and Research Assistant for the Minnesota Opioid Oral History Project from 2016 to 2019. Additionally, they worked as a Preservation and Special Collection Project Worker at Hennepin County Library from 2017 to 2018, where they processed a large collection of newspaper photographs and trained new employees on project standards and procedures.
Samantha Aamot's education history includes a Master of Library & Information Science - MLIS degree in Archives/Records Management from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which they pursued from 2020 to 2022. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts - BA degree in Public/Applied History from North Carolina State University, which they pursued between 2019 and 2021. Samantha also holds a Bachelor of Arts - BA degree in History from Macalester College, where they studied from 2013 to 2017. During their undergraduate studies, they participated in a semester abroad program at Boğaziçi University in 2016. In addition to their formal education, Samantha has obtained certifications such as the SNACSchool 3.2 Certification from Social Network Archival Contexts in September 2021 and the Accessibility in the Classroom certification from North Carolina State University in April 2021.
