Egemen Sönmez

Egemen Sönmez is an Assistant Professor in the Civil Engineering Department at Izmir University of Economics since February 2023, teaching courses such as Structural Steel Design and Multidisciplinary Engineering Projects. Sönmez has been self-employed as a Structural Engineer since 2018, offering consultancy for seismic performance assessments and structural rehabilitation. Additionally, Sönmez serves as the Chairman of the Structures Committee at The Turkish Chamber of Civil Engineers - Izmir Branch since May 2024. Previously, Sönmez held the position of Instructor Doctor at Middle East Technical University Northern Cyprus Campus and worked as a part-time lecturer at Yaşar University and Izmir University of Economics. Educational qualifications include a PhD and MS in Structural Engineering from Izmir Institute of Technology, along with a BS in Civil Engineering from Manisa Celal Bayar University.
