Shanming Kuang has a diverse and extensive work experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Shanming started their career as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Purdue University in 1998. Shanming then worked as a Research Investigator at Bristol-Myers Squibb from 2001 to 2005. Shanming joined Roche as a Principal Scientist from 2005 to 2011, and then worked as the Vice President of Technology Development at Crystal Pharmatech, where they led departments and oversaw R&D projects. Shanming also served as a Senior Principal Scientist at Roche from 2012 to 2014 and as an Investigator at GSK from 2014 to 2017. Shanming was the Vice President and Head of US R&D at Crystal Pharmatech Inc. from 2017 to 2019. Currently, Shanming holds the position of Vice President of Crystallization R&D at J-STAR Research Inc., where they lead the Center for Pharma Crystallization at Porton and manages the Solid Form Studies & Preformulation team at J-STAR Research, Inc. Shanming also previously held roles as the Head of Center for Pharma Crystallization at Porton and the Head of Center for Pharma Crystallization-SH at J-STAR Research Inc.
Shanming Kuang holds a PhD in Chemistry from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, which was completed between 1995 and 1998. Prior to obtaining their doctoral degree, they earned a Master's degree in Chemistry from Nankai University, studying there from 1992 to 1995. Their undergraduate education was at Beijing University of Chemical Technology, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from 1986 to 1990.
