Zhao (Michael) Li has a diverse work experience spanning over 15 years, with a focus on research and development in the field of chemistry and chemical engineering. Zhao (Michael) started their career as a Graduate Student Researcher at Nankai University in 2005, where they conducted research until 2011. Li then pursued their graduate studies as a Graduate Student Researcher at Utah State University from 2007 to 2012, where they worked on international collaboration projects supported by NSF and NSFC.

In 2013, Li joined Georgia Institute of Technology as a Postdoctoral Fellow, conducting research in organic synthesis and mechanisms. Zhao (Michael) also took on the role of Safety Chair of the Liotta Research Group, ensuring a safe working environment and providing safety training to lab workers. Li continued their research career at Georgia Institute of Technology as a Research Scientist I from 2016 to 2019, leading multiple research projects funded by various organizations.

From 2019 to 2021, Li worked at Wilmington PharmaTech Company LLC, first as a Senior Research Scientist and then as a Principal Investigator.
