David Akinin has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. In 2008, they were a QuestBridge Scholar. From 2012 to 2017, they worked at Credit Suisse in Investment Banking roles in Latin America, Chile, and Global Energy. In 2014, they founded and became MD of the Namibia Property Group. From 2017 to 2021, they have served as a Board Member for Atenu Developments, Emanya Capital Group (Pty) Ltd, OperFin Technologies, and African Union for Housing Finance. In 2020, they were appointed to the Working Committee for the Project - Laws Impeding Development: Housing Delivery by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Namibia. David also founded and is currently the CEO of JABU, a last-mile distribution and innovative B2B Marketplace for the Informal Economy in Southern Africa. Additionally, they are the Chairman of the Board for GS1 Namibia.
David Akinin has a diverse educational background. David attended Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School from 2004 to 2008, graduating in the top 1%. In 2006, they attended a summer school program at Harvard University, studying Economics. In 2007, they attended Florida International University for International Relations, and Miami Dade College for Biology, General. In 2008, they graduated from the University of Chicago with a BA in General Honors and a major in Economics. Most recently, in 2018, they completed a Master of Philosophy in Inclusive Innovation from the Graduate School of Business at the University of Cape Town.
