Stephen Powell

Executive Creative Director at Jack Morton Worldwide

Stephen Powell has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Starting in 2000, they worked as a Producer/Writer for BBC Comedy Entertainment until 2006. Stephen then went on to hold the role of Director/Writer at the National Youth Theatre from 2004 to 2007. In 2006, they became the Artistic Director and CEO of LANTERNHOUSE INTERNATIONAL LIMITED, a position they held until 2009. In 2007, they served as the Creative Director and Stadium Show Director for LOCOG, where they directed the London 2012 Olympic Handover Ceremony. From 2009 to 2010, they worked as the Creative Director and Stadium Show Director for FIFA's Club World Cup Ceremonies. In 2010, they became the Creative Director and Event Director for Stephen Webster Ltd. Stephen also held roles as a Creative Director and Stadium Show Director for UEFA in 2012, and as the Head of Events for Ithra at Saudi Aramco from 2011 to 2018. Most recently, they are serving as the Director of Programme at Expo 2020 Dubai. Since 2021, Stephen has been working as the Executive Creative Director at Jack Morton Worldwide.

Stephen Powell attended the University of Birmingham from 1982 to 1985, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree. Stephen then went on to pursue a research fellowship at Lancaster University from 2007 to 2009, specializing in Contemporary Arts. Prior to their university education, Stephen attended Addey and Stanhope from 1974 to 1981. Stephen also received theatrical training at Ecole Philippe Gaulier & Monika Pagneux in Paris, focusing on Stage Movement.
