Maria (Cay) Carlson has been working in the IT field since 1984. Maria (Cay) began their career at Computer House of Cebu as a Junior Analyst/Programmer. In 1991, they moved to Saztec IT Centre as a Training Instructor/Course Developer. In 1994, they worked at Unidata Philippines as a Sr. Systems Analyst and Account Manager. From 1998 to 2010, they worked at Hughes Aircraft Ltd./Raytheon Canada Limited as a Technical Support Engineer II, Systems Test. From 2010 to 2013, they worked at Egis Projects Canada as a User and Data Support Specialist. Finally, from 2013 to present, they have been working at Jackrabbit Online Class Management Software as a SAAS Support Specialist.

Maria (Cay) Carlson began their education in 1976 at the University of the Assumption, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Communication and Media Studies. In 2009, they attended the British Columbia Institute of Technology, studying Weaving the Web, Publishing on the Internet 1 & 2. From 2010 to 2011, they attended Coquitlam Continuring Education for CISCO CCNA Pre-Cert. In 2012, they studied Maintaining and Troubleshooting Computers Running Windows Vista at Microsoft Learning, and is currently enrolled in Mitel University for Mitel 3300 ICP Primer.
