Danielle Presgraves has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Danielle currently holds the position of Director of Data Science Training at The Jackson Laboratory, starting in December 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Faculty member at the Golisano Institute for Business & Entrepreneurship from August 2023 to November 2023. Danielle has also been associated with the University of Rochester since 2012, where they have held multiple roles. Danielle began as an Associate Professor of Instruction and earned promotions based on faculty recommendations. During their tenure, they converted courses to online/hybrid formats and played a key role in the Rochester Early Medical Scholars (REMs) Program, mentoring high-achieving students. Danielle also served as the Associate Director for Student Affairs in the Department of Biology, where they contributed to the development of curricular initiatives like the Computational Biology Major and a Masters' in Genetic Counseling. Prior to joining the University of Rochester, Danielle worked as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at Cornell University in the labs of Dr. Andrew Clark and Dr. Carlos Bustamante.
Danielle Presgraves holds a PhD in Organismic and Evolutionary Biology, with a focus on Theoretical Population Genetics, from Harvard University, which they completed in 2009. In addition, they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Calgary in 2000, and another Bachelor of Science degree in Cellular, Molecular, and Microbial Biology from the same university in 1999. Recently, in 2019, they acquired an Advanced Certificate in Online Teaching and Learning from the University of Rochester - Warner School of Education. Currently, they are enrolled in a Community-Based Research Participation Course at the University of Rochester.
