Professor And President Emeritus at The Jackson Laboratory

Edison Liu has had an extensive career in the field of genetics and genomics. Edison served as the Professor and President Emeritus at The Jackson Laboratory from November 2021, and previously held roles as the Director of the JAX Cancer Center (NCI Designated) and President and CEO of the company. Prior to their time at The Jackson Laboratory, they were the President of the Human Genome Organisation (HUGO) from June 2007 to May 2013. Edison also served as the Executive Director of the Genome Institute of Singapore from 2001 to 2012 and as the Scientific Director of the National Cancer Institute from 1996 to 2001. Before that, they held various roles at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, including Chief of Medical Genetics, Director of a specialized breast cancer research program, and Professor.

Edison Liu received a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Chemistry and Psychology from Stanford University in 1969. Edison then went on to obtain a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Stanford University School of Medicine in 1978. Following this, they completed an Internship and Residency program in Internal Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis from 1978 to 1980. Additionally, they completed a Fellowship in G.W. Hooper Foundation at the University of California, San Francisco from 1983 to 1987, specializing in Molecular Biology and Oncogenes. Edison also pursued an Oncology Fellowship at Stanford University from 1980 to 1982, focusing on Oncology and Cancer Biology. Furthermore, they completed a Hematology Fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco from 1982 to 1983, specializing in Hematology Residency Program.
