John Richard Seavitt

Associate Director Preclinical Studies, Rare Disease Translational Center at The Jackson Laboratory

John Richard Seavitt currently serves as Associate Director of Preclinical Studies at The Jackson Laboratory within the Rare Disease Translational Center, a position held since July 2023. Previously, John held the role of Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine from May 2014 to June 2023 and was an Instructor at Harvard Medical School from April 2013 to April 2014. John also served as Managing Director at Massachusetts General Hospital from 2009 to April 2014, overseeing the Gene Targeting Facility and managing services related to custom mouse model generation and stem-cell research. Earlier academic experience includes a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School from 2004 to 2008, focusing on chromatin remodeling complexes and hematopoietic transformations. Educational background includes a B.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. in Immunology from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
