Tom Limber MS, CISSP

Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Jacksonville Transportation Authority

Tom Limber currently serves as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA). In pivotal role, he is entrusted with the oversight of the organization's Digital Security Program (DSP) and its overarching information security practices. Prior to joining JTA, Tom held the position of Senior Information Security Specialist at Brooks Rehabilitation in Jacksonville, FL. At Brooks, he took the lead in deploying IT Security Operations and intrusion detection systems. He was also instrumental in establishing the Computer Security Incident Response Team (SIRT) and in implementing procedural enhancements for IT security.

Before his position at Brooks, Tom worked at ING U.S. Jacksonville SOC as an IT Security Specialist and later as an IT auditor. Here, he was a senior analyst and was involved in collaborative efforts with the team in Minneapolis, MN. Even earlier in his career, Tom worked as a Network Engineer and Network Security Specialist at Walt Disney World, where he provided crucial support for a global network environment.

On the educational front, Tom has a Master of Science degree in Computer and Information Systems Security/Information Assurance from WGU Washington, which he completed in 2011. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Logic & Computation with minors in Geoscience and Astronomy from PennWest Edinboro, where he graduated in 2008.

Tom's credentials are further bolstered by a plethora of certifications. He has been recognized as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) since January 2016 and obtained a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) certification in June 2018. He became a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) in July 2014 and secured both the Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) and Certified Forensics Hacking Investigator (CHFI) designations in March 2013. His networking skills are certified by Cisco, having obtained the Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification in October 2013 and the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification in February 2011. In addition, Tom holds multiple CompTIA certifications such as A+, Security+, and Network+, which were obtained between 2014 and 2015. Other certifications include the ArcSight Security Analyst from HP in February 2013, NSTISSI No. 4011 and 4012 certifications from the National Security Agency in June 2012, and a GIAC Certified ISO-27001 Specialist certification from the SANS Institute in May 2012.

Moreover, Tom received the Information Technology Infrastructure Library v3 (ITIL) certification from EXIN in May 2009 and became a Microsoft Certified Professional in August 2002. His Juniper Networks Certified Associate, Junos (JNCIA-Junos) was obtained in November 2010. Recently, he received the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute in August 2022. Tom was also recognized as a Global Top 100 Professional in Cybersecurity by ONCON in 2021. While he holds a certification in SOTI MobiControl v14, the specific details of this certification are still pending.
