Pif Edwards

Pif Edwards has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries and roles. They started their career at Halifax Regional Library as a Children's Performer, Drama Teacher, and Library Worker. During their time there, they entertained and engaged with children through songs and stories.

In 1994, Pif became a Partner at Dexter Art and Design Associates, where they played a crucial role in growing the business from a two-person shop to a team of eight. They handled various responsibilities, including design, writing, production management, account management, and strategic planning.

They then worked as an Art Director at The Coast, where they were responsible for the look and feel of the weekly newspaper, similar to Now Magazine and Village Voice.

Pif also served as a Production Manager at Diversity Publishing and a Senior Designer at Image Design, where they collaborated on advertising and marketing materials.

In 2000, Pif became a Graphic Designer at Bristol Group and later joined Extreme as a Production Artist from 2003 to 2004.

At Dalhousie University, Pif worked as both a Research Assistant and a Teaching Assistant. They were involved in projects related to databases, data mining, and health informatics.

Pif's most recent role is Chief Technology Officer at JALI Research Inc., a company that develops facial animation software for animators. Their main project, jSync, a procedural lip-sync plug-in, is ready for licensing.

Pif Edwards has a diverse education history spanning multiple institutions and fields of study. They began their educational journey at Dalhousie University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre from 1990 to 1995. Afterward, Pif pursued their passion for Computer Science and enrolled at Dalhousie University once again, completing a Bachelor of Computer Science degree from 2004 to 2008. Building on this foundation, Pif went on to pursue a Master of Computer Science degree at Dalhousie University, which they obtained from 2008 to 2010. Finally, they pursued their highest level of education at the University of Toronto, where they completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science from 2010 to 2015.
