Joe Peng

Principal Scientist at James Hardie Industries

Joe Peng has a diverse work experience in the field of building materials and chemical industry. Joe started their career as a Production Manager at Guangzhou Institute of Chemical Industry, where they managed a team and oversaw production schedules and quality assurance. During their time there, they developed a Reusable Phase-Change Heating Bag and conducted surveys on Guangdong Kaolin resources and utilization. Joe then transitioned to James Hardie, R&D Australia, where they worked as a Senior Scientist, focusing on formulation and new product development, as well as process development. Joe later joined James Hardie Building Products as a Principal Scientist, where they pioneered new technology for lightweight fiber cement building materials and continued their work in formulation design and new product development.

Joe Peng has a comprehensive education history. Joe obtained their Bachelor of Material Engineering in Inorganic Non-metallic Materials from Wuhan University of Science and Technology, PRC between 1983 and 1987. Joe further pursued a Master of Material Engineering degree in Silicate Materials at South China University of Technology, PRC from 1987 to 1990. Afterward, they attended Sydney Institute of Technology, Ultimo from 1997 to 2008 and completed a Diploma of Food Technology. Finally, Joe Peng earned their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Science from the University of Western Sydney, Australia, studying from 1998 to 2001.
