Michael Brisciana

VP of Human Resources at Janel World Trade

Michael Brisciana has a long and varied work experience. Michael began their career in Human Resources in 1990 at Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens as an Employee Relations Specialist. In 1993, they moved to First American Corporation as a Human Resources Manager. There, they managed the HR side of 30+ acquisitions and built the performance, policy, compensation, and employee communications infrastructure that enabled divisional growth from 1000 to 6000 employees in a 5-year period. In 2006, they joined ISM Insurance Services as an HR Director/Consultant, serving as a confidential adviser to senior management. In 2013, they moved to Signature Systems Group, LLC as a Human Resources Director, where they worked at an industry-leading manufacturer and distributor of temporary flooring and ground protection. In 2018, Michael took on the role of Author at Empathetic Leadership, where they wrote a book making the case that leading with empathy is among the most authentic, impactful, and effective types of leadership. Finally, in 2019, they assumed the role of VP of Human Resources at Janel Group, Inc.

Michael Brisciana has a long history of education and certifications. Michael completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Human Resources at Loyola University Chicago in 1994. Prior to that, they obtained a BSBA in Management from Bucknell University. Michael also holds a Regents degree from St. Anthonys High School. In addition, they have obtained several certifications, including Predictive Index from The Predictive Index in 2013, Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) Certification from HR Certification Institute - HRCI in 2018, and SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) from SHRM in 2015.
