Scientist / Sr. Scientist, Clinical Immunology

Janux Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated Scientist / Sr. Scientist with demonstrated skills in the field of cancer immunology and/or immune cell biology. The incumbent will develop, optimize, and qualify flow-based assays for clinical programs. Clinical samples may be run in-house or transferred to a CRO. This individual will assist in vendor management to ensure efficient assay transfer and running of samples to meet key deliverables. A successful candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with flow cytometry, T cell activation, assay development and optimization.

This position is approximately 25-50% hands-on bench work and requires the effective communication and documentation. The ideal applicant will be collaborative and team-oriented, self-motivated, possess excellent communication and organizational skills, and carry a strong commitment to excellence.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

These may include, but will not be limited to:

  • Identify, develop, troubleshoot and/or execute flow-based assays for clinical programs (CRO or in-house)
  • Draft and develop SOPs, qualification plans, and reports to support Janux programs
  • Execute standard experiments evaluating T cell activation and cytotoxicity, as needed
  • Interact closely with Research, Clinical, Biomarkers and QA teams to ensure activities are prioritized and deliverables are achieved in accordance with project timelines
  • Manage CROs and maintain oversight on deliverables (timelines, experimental design, data analyses and reporting)
  • Review controlled documents and study reports.
  • Prepare and present data at relevant meetings.
  • Help manage activities under tight timelines
  • Keep up with published literature centered around cancer targets and immuno-oncology therapies directly relevant to Janux programs
  • Other duties as deemed necessary

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • PhD and 2+ years of relevant industry experience in immunology or immuno-oncology is preferred, or BS in a scientific discipline and a minimum of 5-10 years of experience; MS with a minimum of 4+ years related experience.

  • Hands-on experience with development and qualification of multi-parameter flow cytometry (10+ colors) assays.

  • Proficiency in phenotyping and culture of primary human immune cells (ie. PBMCs) is required.

  • Proficiency in flow analysis is required (ie. FlowJo, DIVA, FCS Express, CellEngine, or Cytobank).

  • Proficiency in excel, PowerPoint and GraphPad Prism is required.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience working with external vendors is a plus.

  • Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Success in this role requires great attention to detail with the ability to multitask

  • Skills to be an effective team player, strong individual contributor, self-motivated, flexible, and able to handle multiple tasks and deliver high-quality results under tight timelines

  • High organization skills and diligence with documentation is required

Compensation:

In addition to a competitive base salary ranging from $105,000 to $145,000, we offer stock options, a stock purchase plan (ESPP) and a target bonus.  Janux also provides a comprehensive benefits package for our employees and their families, which includes medical, dental, vision, and supplemental disability insurance.

Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, internal equity and work location.
