Mark E. Wilson M.D.

Mark E. Wilson, MD, has extensive experience in public health and medical leadership, currently serving as the Health Officer for the Jefferson County Department of Health since October 2011, where responsibilities include acting as Chief Executive Officer of the Health Department. Prior to this role, Mark E. Wilson held the position of Jefferson County Health Officer from October 2011 to September 2023 and served as Chief of Staff at Cooper Green Mercy Hospital from November 2008 to September 2011. Additionally, Mark E. Wilson worked for Jefferson Clinic, PC, and Cooper Green Mercy Hospital from July 1991 to September 2011 as a General Internist involved in both inpatient teaching and outpatient primary care. Mark E. Wilson earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, complemented by involvement in Leadership Birmingham.
