Catherine Kim

Catherine Kim is the current Finance Manager at Jellyfish. Prior to this, they were the Management Accountant at the University of Surrey from October 2017 to February 2019. In this role, they were responsible for producing and analysing the monthly management accounts for assigned areas, posting necessary accruals, prepayments, stock adjustments and other adjustments to ensure all revenue and expenditure were correctly accounted for. Catherine also provided detailed variance analysis to explain key movements, working closely with key stakeholders who were mainly non-financial personnel.

Catherine has a strong background in finance and is experienced in working with financial business partners and stakeholders, providing and updating forecasts and 4 year plans, liaising with budget holders and challenging variances where necessary. Catherine is also well-versed in providing support and financial advice to various stakeholders, ensuring that management accounts reports are discussed with budget holders in a timely manner and supplying supporting information and analysis where necessary.

In their previous role, Catherine was also accountable for completion and clearance of balance sheet reconciliations for assigned areas. Catherine sought and implemented continuous improvement opportunities in processes and reporting, obtaining feedback from users on the proposed improvements. Additionally, they worked with finance colleagues and Business Finance Partners in the provision of financial information (e.g. costing for capital expenditure & leases).

Catherine Kim has a degree in accounting from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants as well as a degree in biology from Jeju National University in the Republic of Korea.
