NASA Chief Veterinary Officer -Intern at Jes Tech

Kristen Peagler gained diverse work experience in various roles and organizations. In 2016, they interned at the Greenville Zoo Foundation in the Education Department. Later that year, they began working as a Student Athlete Tutor at Presbyterian College Athletics. In 2018, Kristen became a Boehringer Ingelheim Georgia Veterinary Research Scholar, conducting research on developmental programming with EDCs. Kristen also worked as an Online Tutor for Varsity Tutors during this time. From 2019 to 2020, Kristen was involved in Purdue's veterinary outreach program, teaching classes at local elementary schools and a community center. In 2020, they interned at KBR, Inc. as a NASA Veterinary Intern before transitioning to a role as an Aerospace Medicine Clerk at NASA's Johnson Space Center. Kristen's responsibilities at NASA included conducting research on post-flight infection in astronauts and introducing new post-flight health stabilization plans. In 2021, they served as a Zuku Review Student Representative for NAVLE Prep. Currently, Kristen is an intern at JES Tech, where they hold the position of NASA Chief Veterinary Officer - Intern.

Kristen Peagler's education history includes a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology and Chemistry, which they obtained from Presbyterian College from 2013 to 2017. Following that, they attended the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine from 2017 to 2021, where they earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree with a focus on Mixed Animal studies. Subsequently, they pursued further education at the University of Washington - School of Medicine, where they enrolled in a Master of Science (MS) program in Comparative and Laboratory Animal Medicine, which they are expected to complete between 2021 and 2024. In addition to their medical studies, Kristen also pursued a private pilot license from Galvin Flying, completing Part 141 Ground School and gaining a Private Pilot License. Kristen is currently enrolled in Galvin Flying to complete their Private Pilot - Ground School course in aviation.
