Sarah Jones has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Sarah is currently employed as the Director of Camp Shai at the Staenberg-Loup Jewish Community Center. Prior to this, they worked at Galileo Learning as a Staff Selection Specialist and (Virtual) Lead Instructor. In their role as Lead Instructor, they provided virtual instruction through Zoom for students enrolled in Galileo Learning's Camp Galileo Anywhere program.
Sarah also has experience working in education, having served as a Substitute Teacher at Chicago Public Schools. During their time there, they provided instruction and classroom support on a day-to-day basis. Sarah also had a long-term substitute role in a social studies and literature classroom for 7th and 8th grade students at Oscar Mayer Elementary.
Additionally, Sarah worked at Galileo Learning as a Program Director, where they recruited and hired staff, supervised summer staff members, and facilitated programming for over 1,000 campers. Sarah also has experience in program management, having worked as the Center for Economic Opportunity Program Manager at the International Rescue Committee. In this role, they managed and delivered services to refugee and asylee clients, supervised staff, and coordinated with the Development team to write grant proposals and reports.
Sarah's earlier work experience includes being an AmeriCorps Vista Member at the International Rescue Committee, where they provided financial coaching to refugees and asylees, and serving as a Server at Kona Grill. Sarah also worked as a Camp Counselor and Senior Camp Counselor at Cool Creek Camps and as a General Counselor at Raquette Lake Girls Camp.
Sarah gained political experience as an Intern at the District Office of Representative Baron Hill.
Sarah Jones completed their secondary education at Westfield High School, receiving an Academic Honors Degree in the year 2009. In 2009, they started their undergraduate studies at Indiana University Bloomington, majoring in International/Global Studies and Communication and Culture. Sarah graduated from Indiana University Bloomington in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree. In 2012, they also had a study abroad experience at the University of Cape Town. Later, in 2017, Sarah pursued further education at Northwestern University, where they obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in the field of Secondary Education and Teaching in 2019.
