Vice President, Jewish Education at Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County

Peter Eckstein has a diverse work experience, with a focus on Jewish education and Israel engagement. Peter is currently the Vice President of Jewish Education at the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County, where they are responsible for adapting Jewish education programs during the Covid-19 pandemic and developing new educational initiatives. Prior to this role, they held various positions at the same organization, including Director of Jewish Education & Israel Engagement, Director of Israel Programming and Education Innovation, and Director of Israel Programming and Educational Technology.

Before joining the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County, Peter founded JEdHorizons, LLC in 2015, where they served as the Founder, Lead Educator, and Consultant. Peter worked with organizations such as B'nai Torah Congregation/Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning, helping to build Jewish tomorrows through visioning, teaching, and mentoring.

Peter's previous experience includes working at Gratz College as a Technology Integration Educator, where they designed and facilitated e-learning classes for Jewish educators and students. Peter also produced online professional development classes for Supplementary Jewish Educators.

At the Friedman Commission for Jewish Education, Peter served as a Technology Integration Educator, using social media and web-based platforms to communicate and share educational resources with teachers. Peter trained staff and community educators to integrate technology into their classrooms and designed the CJEiLearn website with curated resources for Jewish educators.

Earlier in their career, Peter worked as the Director of Congregational Learning at Temple Beth David, where they developed curricula, implemented special programs for congregational school, family education, and continuing education, and oversaw the teaching staff. Peter also worked as the Director of Education and Programming at Temple Israel, where they designed curricula, implemented programs, supervised the Youth Department, and administered the Confirmation program.

Peter's work also extended beyond their direct roles, as they served as a board member and programming and conference chair at CAJE, and as the Director of Educational Services at Kibbutz Ketura.

Peter Eckstein has an extensive education history spanning several decades. Peter began their academic journey at the University at Buffalo from 1975 to 1979, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Elementary Education at Nova Southeastern University, graduating between 1994 and 1998. In 2001, Eckstein attended Hebrew College, where they earned a Masters degree in Jewish Education, specializing in this field until 2004. Continuing their education, they attended Yeshiva University in 2010 and 2011, earning a Certificate in Education Technology Integration. Subsequently, they obtained a Certificate in Online and Blended Learning Design from the same institution between 2012 and 2013. Most recently, in 2019 and 2020, Eckstein completed a Certificate in Israel Education at The George Washington University.
