POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Project Manager will provide expertise in structural steel fabrication and erection, particularly utilizing TEKLA software.  The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical proficiency in structural engineering principles, and a proven track record of successfully managing complex projects within the construction industry. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, while being safety minded with effective communication, and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders to ensure project completion within scope, budget, and schedule. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Planning and Coordination

  • Lead project planning efforts, including defining project scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to establish project requirements and expectations.
  • Develop comprehensive project schedules and resource allocation plans to ensure efficient execution.

Resource Management

  • Manage project budgets, costs, and resources effectively to maximize profitability.
  • Coordinate procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontracted services as needed.
  • Oversee staffing requirements and assign tasks to project team members based on skills and expertise.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • Implement quality control measures to ensure fabrication and erection processes meet industry standards and client expectations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Address any non-conformities or deficiencies promptly and implement corrective actions as necessary.

Risk Management and Mitigation

  • Identify potential risks and uncertainties associated with project execution and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Proactively monitor project progress and identify issues or deviations from the plan.
  • Implement risk mitigation measures to minimize project delays, cost overruns, and other adverse impacts.

Communication and Stakeholder Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status, milestones, and issues.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among project team members, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Resolve conflicts and negotiate solutions to ensure alignment with project goals and objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience (minimum of 7 years) in project management within the construction industry, with a focus on structural steel fabrication and erection projects.
  • Knowledge of TEKLA software for management of fabrication.
  • Strong understanding of structural engineering principles, construction methods, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., AISC, OSHA, AWS) governing structural steel construction.
